News type: Erasmus
Urban Mislej experienced what it means to work in the hospitality industry on an international level through the Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs program. His desire to gain practical experience, understand restaurant operations, and better grasp cultural dynamics in hospitality led him to Lithuania. There, he was hosted and mentored by Rasa Maroziene, the owner of MB Laimė Kartu, who supported his entrepreneurial journey with her expertise and experience.
At the end of the program, Urban reflected on his experience: “I gained extensive knowledge about the daily operations of a café and restaurant, from managing human resources and inventory to ensuring customer satisfaction. Contributing to marketing campaigns and financial planning provided me with valuable insights into business promotion. I learned how to create a pleasant atmosphere for customers and adapt to their wishes and needs.”
His main motivation for applying to the program was the desire to learn the fundamentals of restaurant management and gain hands-on experience: “The program gave me a direct insight into challenges and best practices in the industry. In addition to practical work, I gained a comprehensive understanding of successful hospitality management through mentorship and participation in strategic processes.”
His mentor, Rasa Maroziene, emphasized: “Success in business is not just about making a profit; it’s about building relationships and creating lasting impact.”
Urban's advice to young entrepreneurs is simple yet powerful: “Passion is everything. Use it.”
