Symposium on the circular economy in the construction and art sector successfully held!
07. 10. 2024
As the lead partner of the Interreg project Danube DECORATOR, we took part in the Critical Thinking Symposium on "The Circular Economy, the Construction Sector and the Arts" in Gorizia and Nova Gorica on October 1 and 2, 2024.
The event focused on catalysing the circular transformation of the built environment in the Danube region, with a particular focus on adaptive reuse, sustainable economic growth and the interplay between art and circular economy practises.
The symposium featured key sessions that included discussions on circular economy experiences in the construction sector, presentations of case studies from the EU and in-depth discussions on economy, art, culture and heritage in circular economy models. The event brought together experts from the fields of research, technology, business and policy, facilitating fruitful dialogue and fostering collaboration in tackling circular construction challenges.
As a partner, we also presented the BAUHALPS project (Interreg Alpine Space), which deals with similar issues of the circular economy in the Alpine region as DECORATOR in the Danube region. By linking the two projects, we can achieve synergy effects in both regions in the field of the circular economy in construction through the New European Bauhaus Initiative, which emphasises sustainability, aesthetics and community.
The cross-border cooperation between cities created a unique environment for research into sustainable urban development and the principles of circular construction. This symposium provides a solid foundation for future development projects, partnerships and publications in the circular economy and construction sector.
